Now, Argentina waits (tonight) and Chile is on the list...lots of friends recovered, nice visits to family and ongoing friends...some good new connections...so far, so good. About to complete my first week of residence here at the CEMI of the Composition Department of the North Texas University. I am having the full texan experience (including moster buffet breakfast and Mexican soccer evenings...ah! and work at the studios (nice place...i'll have to post some pictures soon) and great people.... BTW, the Barcelona thing didn't happended....i had a good presentation and made between the two selected finalists, but the actual job wasn't enough to move the legallity machine...there will always be a next time... A fun, powerful experience. Health department: sneezing and coughing, but getting aid (ginseng, tea...not much sleep, though). Outdoor Concert at the Tamayo's Contemporary Art Museum, pack dirve for an ahour and a half and setup for the second concert at the Helenic Theatre. This time there was much more audience, a harder one but everything was (even more) tight. After that, straight to bed. Domingo 28 Saturday 27 The Electronic Hammer Live at Teatro Helenico, Mexico City. A great show, with practically no technical problems. The repertoire is 10 times more solid that at Cuba The audience was very, very warm... Afterwards, a small party with friends...very good comments about the show. Sabado 27 The Electronic Hammer en Vivo en El Teatro Helenico, Mexico DF Un muy buen concierto, casi sin contratiempos tecnicos, con el repertorio 10 veces mas solido que en Cuba... Something remarkable: 80% of the Composers of this opening concert were Cubans of the female kind.... Friday 30 The Electronic Hammer + Twine + Plaid @ Distronics Festival, Eindhoven, NL. This is the first gig for us in a 'non-academic'concert situation, and it was great! The other shows wre solid, and the audience was captive, but with us, an initial tension gave space to open ears and support (even encouragement). A great challenge. Building a bridge between the two most common asceptions of the 'electronic music'label was nice on theory, but really powerful in practice. Este es el primer concierto para nosotros fuera de un contexto de conciertos de musica 'academica'y resultó increible! Los otros grupos fueron solidos,y el publico estaba totalmente cautivo, pero con nosotros, una tension inicial dejo espacio a oidos abiertos, apoyo, e incluso, aliento. Un gran desafio. El construir un puente entre las dos ascepciones mas comunes de la etiqueta 'musica electronica' sonaba lindo en la teoria, pero en la practica resulto ser un ejercicio poderosísimo.
